Coming off a victory at Portland International Raceway, Shane Van Gisbergen is showing no signs of slowing down. The No. 97 car for Kaulig Racing stampeded out of pit road and never looked back across two rounds of qualifying ahead of the Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 this evening.
Van Gisbergen was the fastest both in the opening round and in the run for the pole, laying down blistering laps. His final run had him in the high 74-second bracket, winning the pole by a margin of .372 seconds across the 10-turn road course. The NASCAR Cup Series winner from the Chicago Street Race in 2023 will line up alongside Ty Gibbs on the front row in his attempt to go to victory lane in back-to-back weeks. Other road course veterans like A.J. Allmendinger and Sam Mayer will look to chase down SVG from their top-ten starting positions in what should be a barnburner.
This is Van Gisbergen’s first career pole in his NASCAR career across any series.
Green flag is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. PT tonight on FS1.
