In 2022 Mexico’s own Daniel Suárez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race. This year, there will be a few more drivers adding international flair to the field for this year's NASCAR weekend. In addition to Suárez and New Zealander Shane Van Gisbergen in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race, Australian V8 Supercar stars Cam Waters and Will Brown will join the field in their NASCAR Cup Series debut on the 10-turn road course.

Following in the footsteps of fellow V8 Supercar legend Shane Van Gisbergen, these drivers from down under will look to make noise with some renowned teams when NASCAR thunders into wine country June 7-9.

Brown, the Australian Repco Supercars Championship Series points later and eight-time race winner, will debut in the No. 33 car for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) alongside Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon.

“It’s just an incredible opportunity to be able to come out and race at the highest level in America,” said Brown. “I am extremely thankful to Richard Childress and everyone at Richard Childress Racing for the opportunity. I’ve been interested in NASCAR since I started racing Supercars, and even more so since the recent wave of success that some international drivers have had crossing over into the NASCAR Cup Series.”

Waters, the only driver to have won both the Australian Formula Ford Championship and the Supercars Development Series, will join Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing as part of their Stage 60 program in the No. 60 car. The 60 will showcase a third entry for the Ford team in addition to Darlington winner Brad Keselowski and 2023 multiple race-winner Chris Buescher.

“This opportunity for me is a dream come true and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series,” Waters said in a press release. “I’ve been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road-racing experience to the test this summer.”

Don’t miss these International stars when they come to Sonoma for the only points-paying NASCAR race in California the weekend of June 7-9.
