SONOMA, Calif. (May 23, 2016) - Sonoma Raceway and the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) will celebrate fine food, wine and classic race cars at the 24th annual Historic Race Car Festival at the Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, June 4.

This popular annual charity event, which follows Saturday's vintage car racing at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival at Sonoma Raceway, benefits the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation and SCC, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway.

Locals and race fans alike are invited to enjoy tastings from several local restaurants and wineries, as well as an up-close look at more than 30 historic race cars on display. The featured cars will include local entries, as well as a collection of race cars competing at the Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival, June 2-5, at Sonoma Raceway.

The evening will feature samplings from a variety of local restaurants including Maya, Mary's Pizza Shack, Burgers and Vine, Rocket Catering & Sushi, Ramekins, Scandia Bakery, Bert's Desserts, The Red Grape and Taste of the Himalayas.

Nearly 10 local wineries and breweries, including Cline Cellars, Eric Ross Winery, Foyt Wines, Highway 12 Winery, Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, Keller Estates, Napa Smith Brewery and Petroni Vineyards will complement the food with wine tastings.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a parade of more than 30 historic racecars departing under a full CHP escort from Sonoma Raceway. The parade of cars will motor along Highway 121 and Highway 12 before arriving at the scenic Sonoma Plaza. They will then be parked in front of city hall on display for participants. Attendees can also vote for their favorite car in two different categories: Best Local Historic Car and Featured Historic Race Car.

The Historic Race Car Festival will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Sonoma Plaza. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the festival. Call 800-870-RACE (7223) for more information or to purchase tickets.

The Sonoma chapter of SCC has distributed more than $5.1 million to Sonoma County youth-serving organizations since 2001. For more information, visit racesonoma.com/scc.
