The series has continued to see more and more growth worldwide, and the expansion continues into 2025. The global GT World Challenge championship, which spans across four continents, will welcome a total of ten manufacturers, eight of which will be present within American competition this season with the likes of Aston Martin, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, and Porsche. All of them are eligible to score global GT World Challenge powered by AWS points, which are accrued across 30 events and 53 races on four continents.
Meet the Teams
Aston Martin
Racers Edge Motorsports are rejoining the grid, but with a few changes. They have a new driver lineup with Jason Bell and Michael Cooper, who will notably be fielding the No. 2 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 as part of the team’s newly announced strategic partnership with the manufacturer.
The Heart of Racing Team have also added an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 to their medley, which welcomes the new pairing of factory driver Darren Turner and young star Gray Newell. The team has had a strong presence in Pirelli GT4 America and GT America powered by AWS for multiple seasons, and this recent addition of GT3 competition to their program is a testament to their massive growth and commitment to the series.
BMW Motorsport
After adding the No. 99 BMW M4 GT3 to their roster in the latter half of 2024, Random Vandals Racing are gearing up for a full year of competition. Kenton Koch is returning to resume his role, this time joined by Connor De Phillippi as his teammate. The BMW Motorsport works driver previously competed with the team in the Indy 8 Hour, and is now stepping up for the full season, with Conor Daly completing the lineup for the eight-hour endurance race in October.
In Random Vandals fashion, the team is also continuing their expansion and growth, introducing a second entry on the grid featuring some highly recognizable names as Varun Choksey and Bill Auberlen reunite as teammates for another year and make the switch to the RVR banner.
Defending Pro-Am class champions Justin Rothberg and Robby Foley are back in action and ready to challenge for back-to-back titles with their No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3. After claiming the championship in Indianapolis last season by the finest of margins, they are aiming to continue their strong form against a stacked field of talent.
After crossing over to the BMW family midway through the season last year, Flying Lizard Motorsports are ready to embark on a full-year adventure with their No. 8 BMW M4 GT3.
Corvette Racing
Meanwhile, DXDT Racing are seeking to add to their illustrious accomplishments they accumulated over the course of their prior season as part of the Corvette customer racing program. This time around, Blake McDonald will be fielding the No. 11 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R alongside Matt Bell.
Ferrari
The 2024 Am class champions, Jay Schreibman and Oswaldo Negri, are coming back for more and looking to defend their title, rejoining the grid with their No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3. AF Corse are also coming equipped with a secondary entry as the No. 16 Ferrari 296 GT3 is added to the Pro-Am field.
Ford Performance
Ford are entering the fold, with Dollahite Racing being the first to bring the new Ford Mustang GT3 into the GT World Challenge America championship. Scott Dollahite and the team excitedly unveiled their No. 6 machine, with his co-driver being confirmed at a later date.
Mercedes-AMG
JMF Motorsports are about to write a new chapter in their team history as they move up the ranks and prepare for their first season competing in the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS championship. Michai Stephens, who has been a part of the group for many years, is teaming up with Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Mikaël Grenier in the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Regulator Racing made significant progress in 2024, with Jeff Burton and Philip Ellis clinching two wins, one of which was an overall victory, and the No. 91 Mercedes-AMG GT3 remains a consistent threat as it enters the arena once again.
CrowdStrike by Riley are back in the mix again, with the highly successful pairing of George Kurtz and Colin Braun taking the reins of their No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 as they seek to add more hardware to their ever-growing collection.
Two household names from the GT America series are joining forces to raise a challenge in GT World Challenge America, as Jason Daskalos and Isaac Sherman commandeer the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 together. Daskalos had a strong season in the SRO3 class, with six victories and three podiums under his belt, while Sherman became a dominant force in the GT4 category, winning thirteen out of the sixteen total rounds, and claiming the class title in the process.
Porsche
The No. 92 LAB Motorsport by GT Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R was also a more recent addition on the grid, but Jean-Frederic Laberge and Kyle Marcelli were quick to make a lasting impression after they stood on the podium in their debut at Road America. With a new season on the horizon, they’ll be keen to showcase a repeat performance.
GMG Racing are among the list of contenders as well, setting their sights on more trips to victory lane as Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent share the No. 32 Porsche 992 GT3 R after a strong introductory season in the series the year prior.
RS1 have been utilizing the Porsche platform for many years, and the team is seeking a strong return as they look to embark on their 2025 campaign.
