Brace yourselves, speed enthusiasts! Sonoma Raceway is kicking off the 2024 drag racing season this Wednesday, April 10.
In a celebration of horsepower, racing passion and community spirit, Sonoma Drags offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for fans to unleash their inner racer on the track. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newcomer to the drag racing scene, this event promises excitement, camaraderie and unforgettable memories.
What sets Sonoma Drags apart is not just being able to witness drag racing sports cars and street-legal speedsters on-track; it’s about YOU joining in on the action and putting your vehicle to the test! From muscle cars to imports, from classics to modern marvels, all are welcome to take on the quarter-mile challenge and chase that elusive victory.
Back for its 29th season is the crowd-favorite showdown: Top The Cops! High school students buckle up and prepare to go head-to-head with local law enforcement in a friendly competition that’s as thrilling as it is unique. It’s a chance for teens to showcase speed, skill and sportsmanship while fostering positive relationships between our community’s youth and those who protect and serve.
This year, there are some new additions to the long-standing program: a brand-new Junior Street Category where 13-15-year-old racers will tackle an 1/8 mile course, and a grudge/fun run category.
“Sonoma Drags is where it all started for me over a decade ago, and I’m thrilled to kick off the 2024 season this Wednesday, April 10.” says Sonoma Raceway Drag Strip Manager, Nick Bublitz. “The continuation of Top The Cops and the new Junior Street will provide opportunities for the next generation of drivers to learn car control skills as well as sportsmanship.” Bublitz continues, “Not to mention the overall experience and excitement of NHRA competition, all in a safe and controlled environment.”
