NASCAR returns to wine country July 11–13, 2025, meaning it's time to fire up the gas grill, pop the tailgate, and get ready for one of the most exciting weekends of the year at Sonoma Raceway. Whether you're a seasoned fan or a first-timer, we've got everything you need to make the most of your NASCAR tailgating experience.
From the roar of the engines to the sizzle of the BBQ, tailgating at Sonoma Raceway is more than just a tradition — it's a lifestyle. Here's your ultimate guide to turning race weekend into a memory-making, tire-squealing good time.
Top Tailgating Tips & Tricks
- Arrive Early, Stay Late
Aim to arrive before the gates open each day to snag the best possible spot, set up and soak in all the energy. Due to the surrounding two-lane highways, we always recommend getting in early and/or leaving late to avoid congestion outside the racetrack. - Know Where to Park
All general parking at NASCAR weekend is FREE. However, if you would like premier access and priority entry and exit privileges, secure your Reserved Parking or Lot 3 Parking Pass to improve your visit. See the weekend's Facility Map for more details at SonomaRaceway.com. - Bring the Heat (Literally)
Gas-powered Grills are welcome! Stock up on tri-tip, sausages, burgers, and your secret recipe rubs. Don't forget your meat thermometer — this is NorCal, after all. Friendly reminder that charcoal barbecues and open-flame or open-put campfires are prohibited. - Stay Cool and Hydrated
July can be warm in Sonoma. Bring coolers with plenty of ice, water, and your favorite beverages (21+ for alcohol). Pro tip: Freeze water bottles to double as ice packs and hydration later. - Tailgate Tunes
Set the vibe with your favorite playlist or race-themed mix. Be courteous and respectful to your neighbors — unless they're into Dale Earnhardt-themed karaoke, too! Note that our campground quiet hours are every day from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. - Game On
Cornhole, ladder toss, and other tailgate games are perfect for passing the time between practice, qualifying or races. Bonus points if your set is NASCAR-themed. - Keep it Clean
Bring trash bags and cleaning supplies to leave your spot better than you found it. Let's keep Sonoma beautiful! - Surprise and Delights
Keep an eye out for our Sonoma Raceway staff, pace cars or branded vehicles around the campgrounds or parking lots. Well-behaved guests and guests with the best setups may be lucky enough to get a fun gift as a token of our appreciation!
