Who & What: CSRG, the Classic Sports Racing Group of San Rafael is an historic & vintage car racing organization founded by David Love in 1968 & is kicking off its season opener, The David Love Vintage Races at Sonoma Raceway, April 7-8 (www.lovememorialraces.com). David Love wanted to find a way to showcase old race cars whose competition days were over & CSRG was the result. Over the years CSRG's major goal has been to raise money for Sonoma County Charities. Since 2004, CSRG has raised $900,000 for the Sonoma Chapter of the Speedway Children's Charities through its premier event, The Charity Challenge in October.
The Basics: There will be about 225 Historic & Vintage race cars, spanning Formula 1, prototype & production sports cars from the '50s through the 80s, as well as some gems from the 30s. Names like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche, MG, Corvette fill the paddock. There are eight race groups running on the weekend with a Saturday morning qualifying session & afternoon race, as well as a feature race for each group on Sunday.
Special: Any age student & Military attendees are admitted free: This is intended to be a family event, so we encourage entrants to invite kids to sit in their cars, so have your camera ready. Bring a picnic or enjoy the race track food & beverages.
Two Feature Groups
To celebrate the opener, CSRG is featuring two groups, the Crossflow Cup for Formula Fords & vintage race cars from the 50s & early 60s including American home-built racers, as well as cars from Maserati, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Porsche & more.

The Crossflow Cup for Formula Fords at Sonoma Raceway is the second race of a five race series, culminating at CSRG's Charity Challenge at Sonoma Raceway, Oct. 5-7. This is an absolutely incredible series now in it's second year. The cars are 950 pound bullets, all powered by the same Ford motor & that makes for very close racing. Throw into the equation grids of 25-30 cars & you have the foundation for some intense competition.
Race Group 1 -A Heritage Group
This is the Race Group that created CSRG 51 years ago. These are cars designed by the greats—-Colin Chapman, Gioacchino Colombo, Valerio Colotti, Ferdinand Porsche, Arkus Duntov & many others. Cars entered include Maserati 250F & 200si, Lotuses from the earliest 6s to the 23s, Alfa Romeo TZs, Porsche 356s, 911s & 910s, Jaguar XK120s—the list goes on & on.
When: April 7-8, 8:30AM to 5:30PM on Saturday and Sunday.
Where: Sonoma Raceway, at the junction of Hwy 37 & 121

Multiple Race Groups means multiple races on Saturday & Sunday.
Parking is included with an admission ticket
Food: Sonoma Raceway will be offering an array of delicious food, wines & craft beer.
