SONOMA, Calif. (March 15, 2017) - Race fans and community members can enjoy a day at the track and help save lives during an upcoming Verizon IndyCar Series test at Sonoma Raceway on Tuesday, April 4..
Sonoma Raceway will team up with Blood Centers of the Pacific (BCP) to help drive blood donations during the test, which will feature 13 Verizon IndyCar Series drivers on the 12-turn road course. The BCP blood mobile will be on site from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with testing slated from approximately 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission into the track is free.
"There is nothing more heart-pumping than hearing the sound of fast cars zooming by while donating blood. Come out to the racetrack to help us accomplish our life-saving mission," said Jeffery Fermin, BCP donor recruitment representative.
Every three seconds, someone in the U.S. is in critical need of blood. Blood Centers of the Pacific is dedicated to serving the community by ensuring there is always blood for those in need. BCP supplies blood to 50 hospitals throughout Northern California, and conducts medical research to improve blood safety. BCP processes more than 200,000 blood components, and distribute about 145,000 pints of blood and almost 24,000 units of platelets throughout Northern California hospitals.
