Spread some holiday cheer this season by donating to Sonoma Raceway's 13th annual High-Powered Toy Drive.
All toys collected during the toy drive, which runs through Wednesday, Dec. 9, will be distributed to more than 250 children at the raceway's annual Race to the Holidays Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 12. All children are pre-registered for the party through one of six Sonoma Valley non-profit youth organizations. New, unwrapped toys and gifts for children from newborns to 12 years old are needed.
"I brought a family of seven today who aren't getting presents for Christmas besides this, and they are over there like they just got back from the North Pole," said Laurel Mohring, mentor facilitator for Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, who attended the Children's Christmas Party. "And the look on the mom's face, it's special."
Toys are being accepted at 10 local locations, including: Sonoma Raceway (800-870-RACE, www.racesonoma.com); AAA Sonoma (707-528-5900); Don & Sons (Sonoma and Napa locations); Exchange Bank (707-938-8358); Schell-Vista Fire Department (707-938-2633); Sonoma City Hall (707-938-3681); Sonoma Index-Tribune (707-938-2111); Sonoma Stompers Fan Shop (707-938-7277) and the Sonoma Valley Fire Department (707-996-2102).
Gundlach-Bundschu Winery will also support the toy drive at its HolidayPalooza this Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the tasting room for a complimentary tasting and special treats.
