Another great night of drag racing took place on the Sonoma Raceway drag strip, Nov. 2, at the Wednesday Night Drags. The Santa Rosa father and son racing team composed of Jorge Valencia and son, Jorge Jr., each managed to collect class wins. Valencia topped the field in the Sport Street class downing Vallejo's Fernando Da Silva in the final, while the younger Valencia held off fellow Santa Rosa resident Alexis Salvedor to claim the win in the High school division. Santa Rosa resident Tom Johnson's bid for back-to-back victories in the Jack Pot class ended early when Johnson crossed the centerline resulting in a safety disqualification giving the win to Brian Kam of Pacifica.
Napa's Ron Jacks repeated his win from the week prior putting away Santa Rosa's Jonny Rice in the Gear Jammer class championship round. Riverside's Joe Lannoo ended his winless drought with narrow victory over Santa Rosa's Mark Scheuer for the win in the highly competitive Comp Rod class.
The Street class final featured a pair of Marin County racers with Novato's Bobby Grabrian getting the nod over fellow rival San Rafael's Scott Sterley. Novato's Doug Love continued with his winning ways with a very narrow win over Hayward's Joe Sisk for class bragging rights in the Motorcycle class.
