Only three Wednesday Night Drags events remain on the 2016 calendar, and racers took advantage of the break in the weather to get in another night of quarter-mile drag racing under the lights, Oct. 26. Claiming class victories were Napa's Ron Jack (Gear Jammer) followed by Novato's Brad Bowen (Street), Santa Rosa's Don Waltenspiel (Sport Street), Cotati's Mitch Gately (Comp Rod), Novato's Doug Love (Street) and Santa Rosa's Tom Johnson (Jack Pot). The Wednesday Night Drags returns to the Sonoma Raceway drag strip, Nov. 2, with practice runs beginning at 4 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. As part of the festivities, racers and spectators who bring in four or more non-perishable food items will receive a $10 voucher for any 2017 Wednesday Night Drags event. All food collected will be distributed to Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH)food pantry and the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
